An absolutely fantastic place to stay! Very happy.
Firstly, the hosts Roger and Sue are extremely warm and kind people, who couldn't do enough to help you enjoy your stay. The Shepherds hut itself is a good size, very tidy and self-contained. There is a lovely wood burner to warm your cockles. Running along the side of the hut is a bubbling stream, something which we found to be very relaxing. The hut is also surrounded by grand trees and even has its own fenced in area where you may have a barbecue, weather permitting of course. Furthermore, there is a secure driveway area where you may park your car. Because of the huts location, it is rare to hear traffic and night times are lovely and quiet.
In terms of things to do locally, there are some lovely waterfalls nearby, loads of walks, the Clywedog reservoir and Llanidloes. It’s also an option to go visit places like Aberystwyth which is an hour’s drive. Moreover, there were lots of other options provided in the welcome pack.
From my research of places to stay in the area, I personally couldn't find anywhere better when considering price, location, facilities and quality. From my experience, I wouldn't recommend anywhere else.
We will be returning and may even buy a dog to take advantage of all the amenities.
Everything about Ravens Retreat, and Sue, Roger and Raven is just fabulous. It's such a peaceful and magical place to stay. We (hubby and 3 dogs) stayed for 7 nights in November, we were comfy, warm, content and very sad to leave. We've already booked for next year and can't wait to return. Sue and Roger are always there in case of any problems, but also respect your privacy. 10 out of 10 as perfect hosts xx
I had a perfect weekend away with my two favourite boys (hubby and the dog!!). The hut was beautifully quaint and comfortable and a truly idyllic hideaway for a few days away. Our dog, Murphy, adored his stay and spent many long hours getting wet and muddy before snoring in front of the fire. Thank you so, so much for making us all so very welcome.

It was such a novelty to be able to stay in this beautiful shepherd's hut. We loved the wood burner, listening to the owls hooting at night, chatting to each other, there is a radio, but no TV which in our eyes is a good thing, it was lovely just to get away and relax
The accommodation itself was very well thought out, all the amenities crammed in a very small space, cosy and perfect and the addition of a fire pit with a full stock of logs just made it even better… thoroughly enjoyed the stay! and we even had one of the cats, 'Mackerel' most mornings and evenings as extra company.
The Shepherds hut was really sweet and perfect for a getaway. The fire was great for the cooler evenings and made it extra cosy… We would definitely come back again!
It was adorably sweet, small and perfectly formed the facilities were brilliant The OMG burner kept as cosy and warm, bed was comfy and the little kitchen was great. Toilet/shower room was small but all you need. There was storage both under the bed and at other side plus a cupboard with hangers. I have been in hotel and cruise rooms that dont give you as much

The hut was gorgeous with vintage decor alongside new equipment such as induction hob for cooking and an electric shower in the en-suite. The fridge was fully stocked with ingredients to cook your own breakfast along with lovely touches such as home made granola and jams. Would thoroughly recommend staying here
Ruby-the-Hut is a fabulously stylish shepherds hut set in a wild and private part of a beautiful Somerset garden. We had afternoon tea on arrival In the garden which was delicious. Loved the pull down bed, shower was high spec and the fire pits and fairy lights made it feel really special…

Where do we start with this place, it was just amazing in every way. The hut was lovely, modern and well equipt with everything you need, comfy bed, gorgeous little log burner inside and outside too, the most incredible view, complementary morning pastries and a fabulous hot tub which was perfect with the scenery. We spent a good hour both mornings staring out of the ceiling skylight watching the clouds go by, it was so relaxing
